Call Congress Now (Just In Case Speaker Boehner Gets it Together)

Red Hotline PhoneThanks to the overwhelming public pressure and your direct efforts, the Senate voted early this morning to raise tax rates on the wealthy for the first time in over 20 years and restore tax fairness in this country once again. Even Tennessee Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander voted for it!

And even though Speaker Boehner promised he would bring any bill passed by the Senate to the floor of the House for an up or down vote – let alone a bill passed with an amazingly convincing bi-partisan vote margin of 89-8! – he is dragging his feet (and letting right-wing extremists hold the vote hostage).

Just in case Speaker Boehner keeps his promise tonight, now is the time for you to make your first phone call of the New Year!

Will you call and ask your member of the U.S. House of Representatives to take immediate action and pass the bill?

No bill is perfect, but this one will give working families some much-needed certainty going into the new year. Passing this bill is the right thing to do.

If the House fails to act, Americans will find themselves deciding between buying groceries or filling a prescription, worrying about how they’re going to pay the rent or tuition, and losing their jobs due to less demand for goods and services. With the stakes so high, now is not the time to sit on the sidelines.

Thanks for taking the time on the holiday! Happy New Year!
