Of Shoes and InsureTN

WPLN reports that InsureTN activists are turning to shoes to make a point about the need for a floor vote on the Medicaid expansion measure:

Supporters of Gov. Bill Haslam’s Medicaid expansion proposal barricaded the entrance to a prominent lawmaker’s office Tuesday, using a pile of shoes.

The message to House Speaker Beth Harwell was she should consider what it’s like to walk in the shoes of the uninsured. They demanded that Harwell bring Haslam’s Insure Tennessee plan directly to the floor.

This follows an aggressive billboard campaign pushing for Harwell to bring the legislation to a floor vote in the Tennessee House of Representatives. Bringing the bill to the floor would at least allow for every member of the House to participate in discussion on the bill and for those who oppose it to offer amendments to improve it.
