Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop
Today is the day. Giving Tuesday. A chance to stand together and help support organizations fighting to make Tennessee a better place.
I’m going to be blunt: The fight in 2017 will be harder than ever.
That’s why we’ve set a goal of raising $1000 by the end of the day today.
Thanks to some early supporters, we’re only $700 away from meeting that important goal.
Will you join us?
Now more than ever, it is critical that we stand together — that we stand up, and fight back.
Recent election results mean those who would roll back important consumer protections will soon be in power. There have been calls to repeal the Affordable Care Act and to dismantle the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB).
We MUST stand up and fight back.
Tennessee Citizen Action is committed to working with coalition partners to preserve the gains of the Affordable Care Act and to seek alternative paths to expanding access to healthcare.
We will maintain an emphasis on reining-in in the payday predators who take $400 million a year from Tennessee families.
We will continue to call for transparency in elections and expose outside special interests seeking to influence Tennessee campaigns with hundreds of thousands of dollars in dark money.
If we’re going to fight, and we intend to, we need your help.
We’re just $800 away from meeting our Giving Tuesday goal. Your support will allow us to keep fighting in 2017 and beyond.
Will you give $10 or $20 today so we can fight for a better Tennessee tomorrow?
Tennessee Citizen Action is not afraid to fight — we have a record of standing up, fighting back, and calling out the worst injustices at the Tennessee General Assembly and among our federal legislative delegation.
Here’s an example from a column I wrote this summer:
We’ve come to understand that our state’s residents generally are safer when our General Assembly is not assembled. Things have become so laugh-to-keep-from-crying bad on Capitol Hill, it’s hard to pick just one “worst” bill of the year when it comes to Tennessee consumers and workers. So, instead, Tennessee Citizen Action has identified a quartet of shameful legislative achievements from the recently (and blessedly) concluded session.
Calling out legislative malpractice is just the first step — we need you to stand behind us so we can coordinate action and make a difference in public policy.
Here’s the deal: When we fight, we get results. Whether we’re shedding light on dark money in campaigns or starting a public policy conversation on car safety for consumers, when we stand up and speak out, people listen.
Are you ready to stand up and fight back? Can we count on you to help us reach our goal? Give today and we’ll fight like hell to ensure your voice is heard at the General Assembly and among our Members of Congress.
Thanks for all you do!
