The Time to Act is NOW!

Our friends at the Tennessee Justice Center have an URGENT message on health care:

Breaking news:
The House of Representatives could vote on the disastrous American Health Care Act as soon as tomorrow. It now is more likely to pass the House and then move to the Senate.
Join us for a webinar on Tuesday, May 2 from 11am-12pm CDTfor an urgent debriefing of this bill and the latest threats to health care. Register for the webinar here.
The bill is now worse than ever:
1. The bill still has all of the terrible features that it had last month. It increase the number of uninsured Americans by 24 million, raises premiums for millions of Americans, and make $880 billion in cuts to Medicaid, which would cost TN’s state budget $500 million each year. Those are among the reasons that only 17% of Americans supported the bill.
2. Incredibly, Congress has made it even worse. It now takes us back to the dark days when people with pre-existing conditions like diabetes and cancer couldn’t get health insurance. The plan would allow insurers to charge more to people who are sick, or who are older, making coverage unaffordable for those who need it most.
3. The bill allows states to get rid of the essential health benefits, which would roll back the clock to the days of skimpy plans without coverage for maternity care, substance use disorders or mental health services.
4. The bill includes a provision that would exempt members of Congress and their staffs from key provisions of this damaging bill, ensuring they do not lose any essential health benefits or face higher premiums due to their own health conditions.
The House Freedom Caucus has endorsed the bill. This means that it now has a more likely chance to pass the House of Representatives. It will then go to the Senate, where our Senators have a critical role to play in stopping it. The Senate is under pressure to immediately rubber stamp whatever passes the House.
Our voices matter.
President Trump  pledged to demand a repeal of the Affordable Care Act on Day 1 of his presidency. After thousands of calls, letters, and constituents demanding our lawmakers protect our health care, it is now almost May. Our voices have made a difference.
We need to call Senators Alexander and Corker now, even if we have done so before.

Senator Alexander: (615) 736-5129
Senator Corker: (615) 279-8125
Tell our Senators to oppose the House bill that is now worse than ever. Demand that the Senate not act without hearings that carefully weigh the human and fiscal impact on our state, and on all Americans.

My President has kept his promises. It was the crooked sellouts from his own party that blocked his progress from getting the health care bill passed. When that bill comes up again, I am strongly urging the two of you Senators, from Tn. to stand behind him in your voting, and stay supporting him, as you vowed to do!!! Then we will see the success going forward. Don’t you understand??? God is with this man, Donald J. Trump!!! It’s not him, it’s God, using & equipping him. He will succeed! Not in the manner in which ya’ll are use too, but God’s will for making America great again will prosper!!! Meanwhile, I suggest,in order for you two to prosper, in the polls when your reelection comes up in 2018, & 2020, you will do well to take into consideration, what I am saying here!!!
Thank You, from one citizen of ” we the people”,
