NO MORE SECRETS!

Our friends at Tennessee Justice Center have an important message about the AHCA:

A working group of 13 male Senators is meeting right now to determine the future of health care in the United States.
The American Health Care Act (AHCA) is not going through the normal legislative channels. There are no committee hearings, no input from health care professionals or consumer advocates, no public debate. Instead, Senate leadership formed an all-male special working group that is meeting behind closed doors to come up with the Senate’s version of the American Health Care Act. They are negotiating secret agreements now, and there could be a Senate vote on the AHCA as soon as three weeks from now.
The Senators are expected to use the vast majority of the House’s AHCA bill as the basis for the Senate’s version of the AHCA. This means the bill will still increase premiums and out-of-pocket costs for millions of Americans, give millionaires tax cuts averaging more than $50,000 per year, and cut and radically restructure the Medicaid program.
None of the Senators in the working group express concern about the provisions in the AHCA that would cut $839 billion from Medicaid and would  end the Medicaid program as we know it. The Senators say that Medicaid is broken, although there is ample evidence to the contrary.
TN Senator Lamar Alexander is part of the working group in the Senate. He is the chair of the Senate Health Committee that should be holding hearings, but isn’t. He needs to hear from us.

Call both Senators Alexander and Corker and tell them to not let secret negotiations take the place of public hearings.
Senator Alexander: (615) 736-5129
Senator Corker: (615) 279-8125
If you can, join us tomorrow and send a clear, direct message to Senator Alexander: Stop negotiating behind closed doors!
can you hear us
